There is something deeply poetic about a restaurant that doesn’t just feed a room but actively honors the rhythm of the land and the people sitting at its tables. Tucked away just a block off the bustling Bentonville square, Written by the Seasons has quietly established itself as an elevated, soul-stirring sanctuary of Americana bistro dining.
The space is intentionally intimate, accommodating 54 guests across a glowing interior, sleek bar and charming patio. Inside, warmth radiates from wood-topped tables paired with posh leather seating. A stunning mural anchors the right side of the well-equipped bar while the surrounding walls are draped in a mosaic of intimate family photographs. Look around on any given evening and you’ll catch the exact spirit of Northwest Arkansas: small groups of friends, business partners and neighbors sipping, noshing, laughing and simply being together.
The Ozark Roots & The Four-Way Magic
The story behind the kitchen is as compelling as the menu itself. Brenton Phillips and Hailey Nutt — the visionary minds behind Tribal Juice company — grew up in Fayetteville. During a transformative stint in Dallas, they forged a creative collaboration with chefs Melody Bishop and Dennis Kelley. This dynamic foursome launched their inaugural concept in 2021, expanded in Texas and brought their brilliant, community-centric vision to Bentonville.
What makes Written by the Seasons stand out is its philosophy. The menu isn’t overhauled overnight on a strict calendar date; it’s a slow, nuanced evolution guided by the daily yield of local farmers and Ozark purveyors. Just as crucially, the restaurant serves as a vessel to celebrate the personal seasons of our lives — a graduation, a quiet Tuesday, a new venture or a reunion over a bottle of Chenin blanc.

To Sip & To Share
Start your evening at the bar. The Spicy Hibiscus Margarita ($16) offers a bright floral heat while the Cilantro Gimlet ($16) is refreshingly vibrant and herbaceous. If you prefer a lighter, effervescent start, the Hugo Spritz ($14) is pure sunshine. Pair these with a glass of the mineral-forward Néboa Albariño ($13/glass) or the stunning, structured Presqu’ile Chardonnay ($18/glass).
When the food hits the table, the kitchen’s mastery of balance immediately takes center stage:
-
Burrata and Stone Fruit ($22): Decadent, creamy burrata set against the crisp, sweet acidity of peak-season stone fruit. It’s light, beautiful and completely harmonious.· Boquerones ($16): Briny, unmistakable coastal depth balanced by perfectly dressed greens and crusty toast.
-
Kimchi Pancakes ($22): A personal favorite of the night. Flawlessly seared with crispy edges, served alongside a punchy sweet-and-sour dipping sauce.
-
Dutch Acadian Mussels ($24): A dramatic bowl bathed in a gorgeous, aromatic broth with garlic, ripe tomatoes and subtle chili heat.
The Showstoppers
For the main course, Bishop’s kitchen moves seamlessly between rustic comfort and sophisticated technique. The Grilled Pork Chop Succatash ($44) arrives brined to juicy perfection, resting over a vibrant, market-fresh succotash. The SearedBranzino ($40) features shatteringly crispy skin revealing delicate white fish over fragrant jasmine rice and snappy Asian greens.
The highlight of the evening, however, is the Duck Confit ($45). Presented over sautéed kale, tender quinoa and a tangy stone fruit mostarda, this dish is pure culinary nirvana — crisp, rich and soul-satisfying. Round out the meal with an order of the Coconut Braised Baby Carrots ($18), a shareable bowl of rainbow carrots braised to achieve that elusive, perfect balance between snap and tenderness.
A Sweet Finale
Do not skip dessert. The Pavlova ($16) is a delicate masterclass in textures with cascading fresh berries and crunchy pistachios over airy meringue.
Equally sublime is the Peach Upside Cake ($15) — a warm, caramelized cylinder of seasonal peaches crowned with melting vanilla ice cream. You’ll savor every last bite.
Written by the Seasons isn’t just a win for Bentonville’s culinary footprint — it’s a heartfelt love letter to the Ozarks, executed with precision, warmth and immense joy.
