A Glamorous Grand Finale: TheatreSquared’s 19th Season to Close With A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder
Season 19 at TheatreSquared may be getting ready to wind down, but it’s certainly going out with a bang! Get ready to kick off the summer with a riotous adventure: the rollicking, Tony Award-winning musical comedy A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder follows Monty Navarro, a low-born man who discovers he’s eighth in line for an earldom in the D’Ysquith family. With murder, mayhem and romance on his mind, Monty plots a wicked scheme to knock off his relatives. Featuring unforgettable music, endless laughs and a standout performance by one actor playing all eight doomed heirs, this comedic romp guarantees an evening of uproarious fun.
TheatreSquared’s production will be co-directed by two long-time Northwest Arkansas favorites: T2 Associate Artistic Director and co-founder Amy Herzberg and actor James Taylor Odom —whom many T2 audience members will recognize as Ebenezer Scrooge from the 2022 and 2023 productions of A Christmas Carol.
Herzberg, who is fresh off of playing the lead role in Robert Ford’s In the Grove of Forgetting, has directed numerous shows at TheatreSquared, most recently Season 18’s What the Constitution Means to Me. She is also the director of the MFA and BA acting programs at the University of Arkansas, where she has directed more than 30 student productions. Odom, meanwhile, is deeply familiar with Monty Navarro and his tale, having played the D’Ysquith family heirs in two different productions of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. This formidable team is sure to bring a magic touch to a show that, per the Wall Street Journal, “glitters like gold!”
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder opens June 4 in TheatreSquared’s West Theatre and will run through June 29. Northwest Arkansas theatergoers won’t want to miss this delightful and bombastic show.
