American Heart Association’s Heart Ball

On Feb. 21, the Northwest Arkansas American Heart Association hosted a night of elegant dining and entertainment at the 2020 NWA Heart Ball themed “The Gift of Time.” Approximately 1,000 people gathered at John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers for a cocktail hour, spirited live and silent auctions, entertainment by The Party Jammers and a formal introduction of the NWA Sweetheart Class of 2019-20. KNWA’s co-anchors Chad Mira and Jennifer Peñate were the night’s emcees. The event was sponsored by Life is Why sponsors The Emerson Group and Northwest Health, Healthy for Good sponsor RB, platform sponsor Bayer Healthcare, legacy sponsors Jack Link's and Kellogg's and signature sponsor GSK. Approximately $820,000 was raised to go toward AHA’s mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

St. Joseph Catholic School Panther Gala

On Feb. 15, St. Joseph Catholic School, located in Fayetteville, held its annual Panther Gala at the Fayetteville Town Center with presenting sponsor Blew and Associates. Approximately 350 guests enjoyed dinner, drinks, dancing and the gala’s first After-Party featuring music by DJ Brock. The evening also included both a silent and live auction. The event raised over $86,000 for the school.

Partners + Prevention Lunch

The Children’s Safety Center of Washington County hosted its 5th Annual Partners + Prevention lunch at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fayetteville on Feb. 25. Awards were given out to businesses and individuals who have helped CSC grow during the past 23 years. Mercy Northwest Arkansas received the Partners + Prevention Award and Terra Stephenson and Nickalus White received the Ordinary Hero Award. Larra Donaldson with Sam’s Furniture welcomed 400 guests and Arkansas first lady Susan Hutchinson spoke about her advocacy to the center. Guests also listened to a story of resilience from Olympic Gold Medalist and U of A Gymnastic Coach Jordyn Wieber. Funds raised at the event directly impact the CSC’s programs and services, which are provided free to alleged child abuse victims and their families.

Arts Rising: Once Upon a Gala

The Arts Center of the Ozarks hosted Arts Rising: Once Upon a Gala at its location in Springdale on Feb 29. The evening included live performances by Betsy Jilka and Jon Shorter’s Dueling Pianos. The 200 guests in attendance were able to participate in interactive games for high-value prizes, as well as a curated silent auction, and a fine wine studio and raffle. Chris and Debby Weiser were honored as longtime patrons and supporters of the center and Denise Richards was honored as Volunteer of the Year. Proceeds from the gala will enable the center to deliver arts-related experiences that build community socially, culturally and economically.

Northwest Arkansas à la Carte

On March 5, Circle of Friends hosted Northwest Arkansas à la Carte, an event benefiting Arkansas Children’s Northwest, at Barn at the Springs in Springdale. The event featured tastings from some of Northwest Arkansas’ best restaurants, caterers and featured Chef Brooks Cameron with ACNW. Guests received a warm welcome from Trisha Montague, senior vice president and chief administrator at ACNW as she introduced guest speaker and ACNW ambassador Camden Tucker. Closing remarks from event co-chair Chuck Washington encouraged attendees on ways they can get involved and be part of sharing the mission of the Circle of Friends. The funds from ticket sales, donations and a silent auction at the event all went to support ACNW.
