Pink Ribbon Luncheon 

On Oct. 23, the Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen hosted its annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale. The event raised nearly $100,000 to benefit the organization and breast cancer research. More than 700 people were in attendance at the luncheon, which featured a breast cancer survivor fashion show and a touching tribute to the survivors in the room. In addition, the Komen Ozark BigWig campaign concluded at the luncheon with the 11 local BigWigs working the runway in pink wigs. The BigWigs raised more than $60,000 with Patrick Shanks being crowned the biggest of BigWigs for raising upwards of $25,000. www.komenozark.org 

Bill Fleeman Gentleman of Distinction Gala

On Oct. 4, Hope Cancer Resources hosted the 16th Annual Bill Fleeman Gentlemen of Distinction Gala at John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers. Fashion sponsor By Request for Men in Fayetteville outfitted local leaders to model for the annual fashion show. This year’s recipient of the 2019 Gentleman of Distinction Award was Daniel S. Bradford, M.D., for his compassion and dedication for over 30 years giving patient-centered cancer care in our community. Presented by Harps Food Stores, the event raised more than $250,000 for cancer patients during their cancer journey. www.hopecancerresources.org

NWA Fashion Week

NWA Fashion Week’s fall shows were held Oct. 3-5. The three-night event was featured in a private hangar from Jett Aircraft at Drake Field in Fayetteville. Thursday night showcased a one-of-a-kind evening, which featured The Future of Fashion and seven designers’ collections that were developed during NWAFW’s first-ever Designer Cohort Program. Guest judges included Gabrielle Korn, former editor-in-chief of NYLON Magazine; Deanah Baker, senior vice president for Walmart apparel U.S.; and Jayne Harkness, business mentor for the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Friday and Saturday nights included more runway shows featuring collections created by Arkansas-based designers and favorite local boutiques. There were nearly 1,200 people in attendance over the three days, with over 400 guests in attendance for the final evening of the shows. More than $19,000 worth of runway space, photo services and advertising material was donated to the 23 participating designers and put toward a fund for scholarships, educational workshops and production grants for designers in the area. www.nwafw.com  

Polo in the Ozarks

On Oct. 5, Life Styles, Inc.; the Buell Family; Founder’s Field Sponsors, Walmart and Wells Fargo Advisors; hosted the 30th Annual Polo in the Ozarks at the Buell Farm in Goshen. Despite the overcast skies, the event hosted 1,000 people and featured a live polo match, tailgating, live and silent auctions, dinner from Spring Street Grill in Springdale, and live music from Memphis Soul Revue. KNWA’s Chelsea Helms and Chad Mira emceed the event and helped crown the winners of the annual Hat and Bowtie contests. Over $110,000 was raised in sponsorships and Sach Oliver, with his auction team, brought in more than $20,000 from the live auction. Combined with additional proceeds from ticket sales, the silent auction and other donations, the event raised more than $175,000 benefiting Life Styles, Inc. www.polointheozarks.com


The 11th annual Winetopia wine tasting hosted by Restore Humanity was held Oct. 4 at Pratt Place Barn in Fayetteville. Natural State Distributing, Diamond Beverage Group, Constellation, De Nux, and Scout & Cellar all provided wine for the event; local, craft beer was provided by Core Brewing and Fossil Cove; cider was provided by Black Apple Crossing; and bourbon was provided by Beam Suntory. These beverages were poured for a crowd of approximately 400 guests who enjoyed food from Bordinos, Arsaga’s, Bocca, Café Rue Orleans, Pure Joy Ice Cream, Chuck's Cake Shoppe and Mia Tarts. Through the efforts of ticket sales, a silent auction and a wine toss, the evening raised $63,000 benefiting Restore Humanity’s work in Kenya. www.restorehumanity.org 

Downton Tabby

On Oct. 10, The Animal League of Washington County hosted its annual fall fundraiser themed Downton Tabby at Stone Chapel at MattLane Farm in Goshen. The event included dinner, drinks, a silent auction and live music by Red Ambition. Approximately 225 guests attended and helped in raising $34,000 for animals in need in Washington County. www.animalleagueofwashingtoncounty.org

Courage Award Luncheon

On Oct. 11, the Peace at Home Family Shelter hosted its 8th annual Courage Award Luncheon at Mermaids Seafood Restaurant in Fayetteville. More than 150 guests attended to help honor Jane Hunt Meade for her work on behalf of victims of domestic violence. The luncheon raised more than $14,000 to go toward safe, emergency shelter and supportive services for victims of domestic violence in Northwest Arkansas. www.peaceathomeshelter.org

Signature Chefs Auction 

On Oct. 15, the March of Dimes Signature Chef Auction was held at Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville. More than 250 guests enjoyed an exquisite evening of culinary adventure led by Chef Maudie Schmitt, co-owner of Cafe Rue Orleans. The event featured 12 chefs from some of the top restaurants in Northwest Arkansas and raised nearly $160,000. The event was presented by Campbell's Sales, platinum sponsors included ACOSTA Sales and Marketing, Mosaic, Hello Bello, and Northwest Health. Other major sponsors included Bayer, GSK, Reynolds Consumer Brands and The Hershey Co. Funds raised support the March of Dimes’ fight to ensure all moms have a healthy pregnancy and all babies have a healthy start. In Arkansas, March of Dimes supports programs like group prenatal care, NICU family support and provider education. Fireworks at the Farm

On Oct. 13, The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas hosted Fireworks at the Farm at the Fayetteville home of Ellen and Malcolm Hayward to celebrate its 65th Anniversary Season. The event included live music by Hogtown Hot Club, dinner by Ellen Hayward and Marti Sudduth and, of course, fireworks! Sponsors for the event included Bank of America, Procter & Gamble and Walker Charitable Foundation. The event raised more than $15,000 for SoNA, with an estimated 100 guests in attendance. www.sonamusic.org 

Pagnozzi Parker Charities Golf Tournament and Tailgate

Pagnozzi Parker Charities hosted the 28th Annual Pagnozzi Parker Charity Golf Tournament, Ultimate Tailgate and Auction, presented by FedEx. The Ultimate Tailgate took place Oct. 26 at the Fayetteville Town Center and the Charity Golf Tournament took place Oct. 28 at Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fayetteville. The events included 116 golfers and tailgate guests who enjoyed food by the Southern Trend cooking crew, a live and silent auction followed by entertainment by Boom Kinetic. The combined events grossed approximately $81,000 benefiting the Pagnozzi Parker Youth Sports Assistance Program. Congratulations to the 2019 Pagnozzi Parker Make a Difference Award winner, Randy Edwards. The award was given in memory of Jim Hawkins. www.pagnozziparker.org  

Arkansas Alumni Awards 

On Nov. 1, the Arkansas AlumniAssociation hosted its 75th annual Alumni Awards celebration at the Fayetteville Town Center. The evening began with a cocktail reception, the opportunity to preview online auction items, photo opportunities with the Razorback mascot and entertainment by Hogtown Hot Club. The program included a plated dinner, recognition and videos of 11 alumni and faculty honorees for their outstanding contributions to the University of Arkansas and the Alumni Association. The former recipients of the Citation of Distinguished Alumni Award were also recognized. Approximately 375 guests were in attendance to this event, and the Homecoming Online Auction raised over $20,000 for the Alumni Scholarship Program. Honorees included: The Honorable Howard W. Brill received the Charles and Nadine Baum Faculty Teaching Award, Dr. John Reuben Clark received the Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award for Research, Dr. Peggy Schaefer Whitby received the Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award for Service, Dr. Anne Velliquette received the Faculty Distinguished Rising Teaching Award, Steve Nipper received the Andrew J. Lucas Alumni Service Award, Stephanie S. Streett received the Community Service Award, Ebony Wyatt received the Young Alumni Award, Cynthia E. Nance received the Honorary Alumni Award, Hayden McIlroy received the Citation of Distinguished Alumni Award, Emma E. The Jones Center’s Big Night Gala

On Nov. 8, The Jones Center hosted its 7th Annual Big Night In California’s Wine Country Gala at its location in Springdale. More than 450 guests enjoyed a wine country-inspired dinner created by the Tyson Foods Global Chef Team, during the gala’s sit-down dinner. As part of the evening, guests were also treated to a desserts reception sponsored by Ghirardelli and Blue Bunny. In addition, guests enjoyed local merchants featured in the MarketsideShops and a Regional Artist Gallery. John George, a member of the Jones Trust board, emceed the evening along with the gala co-chairs, Laura Rush of Walmart and Jason Nichol of Tyson Foods. The Ozark Sunday Supper The Ozark Sunday Supper 

On Nov. 3, Visit Bentonville hosted the 6th annual James Beard Foundation Dinner called The Ozark Sunday Supper at Thaden School in Bentonville. The Bentonville Culinary scene and some of their local chefs served up a delicious four-course, family-style meal, presenting dishes such as Delta-style duck tamales and roasted leg and braised shoulder of lamb. The event also featured a signature welcome cocktail, passed canapésand was led by local emcee Jason Suel who shared with guests some of his favorite memories from around the table. Profits from the dinner will provide funding in the amount of $7,500 for a culinary scholarship in Arkansas. www.visitbentonville.com
